As long-time readers of AAE know, I like to draw attention to articles and videos that are worth reading/watching and even provoke thinking. Today’s video is about gun buying and educating the gun buyer. I do not want to get into a Second Amendment right argument; I am providing the link because I think the video is worth watching, especially as it is a different approach to the issue of educating the consumer.

I found the reaction of the New York affiliate of the National Rifle Association (NRA), The New York State Rifle and Pistol Association (NYSRPA), interesting: it demanded a criminal investigation of the video and the gun safety group States United to Prevent Gun Violence. I didn’t follow the link but the title of the Media Watch article seems to sum up the situation. If you are sure of your own position on any issue there’s no reason to feel threatened by someeone calmly expressing a different view. Free speech?

Thank you for posting on this Richard. Interesting to see how people changed their minds on purchasing a gun when they learned about what “protection” can actually result in. Fascinating to see the NRA’s take on it as well.

I’m confused as to what you want to do if you don’t want a 2nd Amendment debate?
You post a video from an anti-gun organization where they lie (the actual firearms were not the ones used by the criminals but they make it seem that way), have possible broken the law (no federal firearm license, not supposed to sell or present for sale realistic toy guns, etc) — and then you call this educating the consumer?
