An American Editor will be on vacation thru September 11. The next scheduled AAE essay will appear on Monday, September 12. In the mean time, if you haven’t done so already, please peruse the 941 essays already published on AAE.
Also in the works is an AAE group on LinkedIn. It is hoped that it will be up and running sometime in the next two weeks. It is planned to be a place where editors can ask questions and get answers about the business of editing and other editorial concerns, as well as provide a place for more broad-ranging topics.
The AAE Group will also be a place to ask questions and exchange information about EditTools and Editor’s Toolkit Plus 2014.
See you in September!

A LinkedIn group sounds like a great idea!

Happy vacay! BTW, I may have been just a kid in ’66, but I sure do remember that song!

The song was originally done by the Tempos in 1959. I remember dancing to it with my then girlfriend (whose name I have now forgotten). Well, I wasn’t an adult yet, but I was getting there. 🙂

Have a great vacation! You know, of course. that there are already several writing and editing groups on LI. And lately I’ve heard many people complaining that it’s turning into a kind of Facebook: ads, irrelevant postings, spam, etc. I still get messages from people I don’t know asking to be in my network. Anyway, I’m just sayin’…..

Yes, I am aware that there are several editorial groups on LinkedIn, and I, too, get messages to join my network. However, I find the messages manageable because I do not get but one occasionally and I do not accept other email messages. My preferences are no email. (I also do not get CE-L email; I prefer to check via the Internet when I want to look at CE-L. I’m stodgy that way :).)
Jack and I decided to do AAE group on LinkedIn mainly because we don’t have another good venue for doing a chat list. I, for example, am not on Facebook so even if it could be done via Facebook, I’m a holdout.
Our thinking is that the AAE blog is not a good way to generate conversations about things and that there may well be an interest among our subscribers for just that. It will also be a good way for us to provide tutorials about our macros. I find I spend more time than I would like giving 1 person instructions on how best to use an EditTools macro. My thinking is that with the group the information can be spread to many users.
Anyway, we are going to give it a try. Hope you will participate.
