I haven’t written for AAE in months, but this video is one that I think needs to be shared as widely as possible.
This is the story of what America is becoming, the story we should be discussing, and the encapsulation of all that is wrong today in America. Even more troublesome is how the policy is being justified using religion.
This is not my America!

Perhaps you should consider keeping your politics to relevant forums. This is supposed to be an editing blog.

Let me make this clear yet again. This blog is owned by me. It is MY blog. I publish what I want to publish. If you do not like political commentary, fine — feel free to unsubscribe. If you disagree with my views, you are welcome to tell us how much you love Trump and his destruction of America. I have not yet censored any comments.
If you want to prohibit political commentary on AAE, I am willing to sell AAE to you. Make me an offer I cannot refuse and you can then censor all you want.

I would say that what a blog is “supposed to be” is a matter for the owner of the blog to decide, not the reader. Why should editing and politics have nothing to do with each other?

It is not my Christianity either. These pseudo-Christian right-wing religionist hypocrites do not represent a legitimate expression of what my Lord taught. I have spent almost 4 decades in the priesthood fighting against what Trump and his followers represent. It does not surprise my that the idolize an individual who praises leaders of totalitarian regimes.

I am so tired of politicians citing their Christian beliefs as if that is the only religion practiced in the United States. They often treat the Bible like a Chinese restaurant menu of the 1950s and 1960s (they take one from column A and two from column B). Even the main writer of the U.S. Constitution was not a Christian. Thomas Jefferson was a deist. There are more than 1000 gods in the world. Separation of religion and state is in the U.S. Constitution for a good reason. What the current administration is doing is not what their Christian god would do and they need to stop pretending it is. My two cents on the matter.

1. Thank you for stating that you don’t censor comments.
2. I would very careful using Romans 13 if I were a government official. It was used by the Bush Administration to justify disarming people after Katrina. DHS has co-opted ministers to persuade people to submit to whatever the government wants to do, using Romans 13. Both Jesus and the apostle rejected and opposed the authority at the time, so there is an element that the nature of the government and its commands be consistent with the rest of the Bible. You don’t obey a Communist government, which hates God, because they are the government.
3. Colbert completely leaves out the problems of “catch and release.” An illegal is arrested, given a court date, then let go. Only a fool would believe that someone who was willing to commit a crime by crossing the border illegally would show up. Meanwhile, gangs prosper, crime soars, honest Americans, either native born, naturalized, or legal immigrants, get beaten out of work by illegals. Liberalism is so wonderful – just ask Detroit. Libs, you are being chumped by extremely evil people who do not want the middle class to exist. Read Tragedy and Hope for a description of the hate towards the middle class. This flood of immigration helps destroy the middle class. If the middle class is properly understood as the the “free and independent class” then you can understand that it can also include poor who have not made the government their source of sustenance and the rich who have not compromised their integrity. The swamp, the establishment, the luciferian neo-feudalists, call them what you please, hate you and are exploiting your desire to be well thought of. At what point are you going to wake up? Trump is not under their thumb, so they are acting to form.
4. At 2:01, Colbert uses the standard propagandist technique of just stating “immigrants,” muddying the water, as WAPO would put it. This sets up the righteous claim that anyone who disagrees with us, the bastions of virtue, is a mean-spirited [fill blank]-phobe. When people are no longer beaten into submission by this intellectual bullying, then the righteous ones exclaim “Look what hate he has unleashed! !” Spare me.
5. Perhaps the most disgusting thing about this Colbert piece is the unqualified support for the Independent story on public defender claims of immigrants (yes, again, immigrants, not “illegal immigrants”). This is the standard trick of using the accusation as evidence. If you read the entire story, https://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/americas/us-border-patrol-immigrants-family-separation-ice-children-separation-a8394326.html, at least the Independent deserves credit for showing the response from Customs Enforcement, which is much more substantive than the unsupported claim of public defenders, who are wired for bias in favor of the illegals. Tell me honestly, did you automatically believe this because it supports your hate for Trump? Careful, if your logic goes out the window, you are primed to be set up to look like a fool.
6. Colbert uses his platform to smear and denigrate people who are trying to bring the horrific problem of sexual abuse of children to light, so he has lost all credibility with me. Perhaps he or his masters have something to hide. This is a form of psychic vampirism, and it is wide spread. Before you click off, do a search on “Operation Safe Summer,” one of many aggressive actions by this administration against these low-lifes. Don’t you have even the slightest bit of unease about all the suicides lately? Could they be connected? Time will tell. It will tell.
7. You, Richard, and Colbert are bringing this up now, when it has become apparent that senior FBI/DOJ officials were engaged in a soft coup. Not important folks . . . move along, look at the bad things we are doing on the border, we are actually preventing people cross it if they damn well feel like it! ! ! How could we? What have we become?! The criminal prosecutions are coming, and they will involve Clinton and Obama, get over it. Sorry, I forgot . . . Russia Russia Russia.
8. The way to prevent children from being separated from their families is to build a wall, so if they want to come to the U.S., they can get in line like everybody else, children and all.
9. Have any of you asked the question “Why are they coming?” Hispanics are hard-working people. If they created the same wealth in their home countries as they do here, everyone would be tried to get into their countries, not run away. What is going on there? Is corruption that bad? Does it have anything to do with Mexico still being under the Aztec religion, with all its brutality, human sacrifice, etc.? Catholicism is just a patina. Our Lady of Guadalupe is actually an Aztec goddess (worth the research) and Santa Muerte has nothing to do with Christianity.

Well, in spite of the lengthy comment above, I still find this action on the part of the current American government appalling. And what is worse is that officials are prepared to carry out the instructions of these dreadful people. Order are orders was not an accepted defense at Nuremberg, and never has been. And by the way, Hi Rich, how goes it with you these days?
